the origins of Ukrainian pictorial and poetic folklore
Most of the exhibited compositions represent the late period of the artist's work, the last decade of her life. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fantastic world of amazing creatures, animals, birds, and flowers.
The origins of Ukrainian pictorial and poetic folklore are combined in the work of Maria Prymachenko. The artist has developed her own artistic style, which is characterized by: bright, harmoniously balanced coloring of the works, a variety of compositional solutions, rich ornamentation - plant and geometric, plot variety. Mystkina often resorted to allegories, endowing animals with human features. Fans of the artist's talent will be able to find these parallels on their own. The author complemented her works with original text captions that are organically connected to the pictures. Within the framework of the exhibition project, particular attention will be focused on this part of Maria Prymachenko's work.
The exhibition will include about a hundred works by a bright representative of "naive" art Maria Prymachenko (1908 (1909) - 1997) from the collection of Kyiv art critic, academician Eduard Dymshits. The researcher has been collecting them for the past thirty years. He bought most of the works from the artist's family, in her parental home in the village of Bolotnia.
