It is here that carolers sing ancient ritual carols ... this is a carol-fest, an event that everyone should see! The participants of the Christmas event are local residents of the village of Kryvorivnia!
"On Sunday, the sun rose early, the cherry orchards cheered up..." - these are the first lines of a carol that has been heard for more than a hundred years in the village of Kryvorivnia in the Hutsul region. The tradition of caroling has been a part of the Christmas holidays since pre-Christian times and continues unabated until now. Neither conversion to Christianity, nor Soviet bans could break this tenacious tradition - male singing and caroling ritual in this very village in the middle of the Carpathian Mountains.
Hutsul Christmas has always fascinated with its color, and at the same time with the meditative nature of the Christmas carol, which can sometimes last half an hour or even more. Therefore, it is not only entertainment - to go to the carolers - but rather hard work. That is why the process is stretched over all the winter holidays - from Christmas to the Epiphany. And the Hutsul carol penetrates the soul and remains there forever, even if you heard it only once.
